Apply for a Library Card

Stop by the library with your driver's license -or- a photo ID and a bill with your current address on it to open your library account. A parent/guardian must be present to register children (ages 5 - 16) for a card.

You can also sign up for an account online. Complete this form ⇗ and a library staff member will contact you to complete the process.


Who is eligible for a Free Library Card?

  • All residents of East Grand Forks (EGF) including rural residents
  • Active duty military personnel with valid military ID
  • Teachers working in any EGF school with valid school ID
  • EGF Business or Organization: Contact info from a full-time employee required
  • Students attending any EGF school
    • Middle School - College students: can open their own library card with valid school ID
    • Children entering kindergarten - Grade 5: a parent/guardian must be present
    • Youth cards (ages under 18) do not include: Blu-ray/DVDs, videogames, Library of Things, and artwork

Non-Residents

If you live outside of East Grand Forks and don't meet one of the free qualifications above, there is an annual fee for your library card:

  • Adult (18+): $20 per year
    - Able to check out all library materials
  • Youth (Under 18): $15 per year
    - Unable to check out Blu-ray/DVDs, videogames, Library of Things, and artwork
  • Temporary 3-month: $5
  • Nonresident Institution: $20 per year
    - Business or Organization outside of EGF city limits; contact info from a full-time employee required
