On January 1, 2018 a 1% sales and use tax was implemented to pay for the renovation of the City’s swimming pool. Within the next couple months the project will be paid for and the notice has been submitted to the Minnesota Department of Revenue to end the collection of the local sales and use tax. Collections stop at the end of a quarter so the collection will end on September 30, 2020.
More information about the local tax can be found on the Minnesota Department of Revenue’s website. Specific questions regarding the local sales and use tax should be directed to the Minnesota Department of Revenue. The State is administering and collecting the local sales and use tax on behalf of the City.
All businesses will be receiving a notice from the Department of Revenue about the end of the local sales and use tax.
